How I spent my new year's eve...

Ok strictly speaking I'm sneaking this one in at 11.10pm on December 31st 2010, but since the vast majority of people will see it in 2011, I'm calling it my first picture for the new year... so sue me.

The background started off as cyan and royal blues, and yeah I guess *that* idea went out the window at some stage. I spent at least 6 hours experimenting, fiddling, twisting, spindling, folding and mutilating all sorts of texture files before I settled on the effect of the circle 'jewel' thingy at the back.

I also reduced the size of the circle by cutting out the lineart and inserting my own on a new layer as the original circle size was simply too dominating for the picture overall. It also looks pretty good as an oval/ellipse shape btw...
