Off and on for the past 3 or so years I've been colouring various pictures for the "Anna Smudge" series of books written by "Mac" and published by Toastedcoconutmedia ([link] <-- where you can see my other pictures I did for them as well, and [link]) and also available via Amazon (naturally...what book isn't?) --> [link]
About a year ago I was paid to colour the villian "Thud" for the latest book in the series "Quinton Cohen: Professional Chef" and FINALLY it's been published so I can show off the dang picture!!!...! As you can probably tell, Thud is a bit of a boof-head gangsta wannabe...
Apparently it appears inside the book but it also cops a view on the back cover so I've added a shot of the front and back as well here. (The front cover was painted by Greg Horn and I had nothing to do with that.)
The picture itself was your standard shaded pencil drawing and then I was asked to 'distress' it by making it look all beat up and water stained etc, so all the texturing effects and paper edge tears are manually done by me. It was actually quick tricky to distress it "just enough" to give the look but not go too far and ruin the image (or all my colouring efforts) entirely. Basically I just had to 'nibble' at the edges...
They're quite good books actually and the first one "Anna Smudge: Professional Shrink" won all sorts of young readers awards when it came out, so if your kids like reading and have some christmas money to spend then why not on this? Best age for these would be 8 - 13 years.
*UPDATE!* - Apparently this book has won the 2011 "Moonbeam Children's Book Award" as well! - yay!
