Pencils and inks by - Benjamin Ang, who deserves a hell of a lot more recognition and attention than he's getting right now in my opinion. He has two terrific X-men pics in his gallery (along with a pile of other stuff..) and this is the first of them I've coloured up.
I thought about making Cyclops and Wolvie a monotone colour to blend in with the background in order to make storm pop some more but then thought "Nah... stuff it. This is cool as is and I'm feeling 'colourful!" ..."
I got that background colour by using an orange-to-red-to-deep red gradient and then pushing it towards the blues with the hue adjustment slider. The star burst is flamingpear.com's 'solarcell' plugin set on a screen mode layer.
I'm pretty dammed chuffed with Storm's skintone as well. I haven't done ... well what *is* the correct PC term these days? Coloured, Black, Afro-American, person-who-is-not-caucasion? I dunno because I'm Aussie and we have our own terms for the Indigenous people here. Anyway, I haven't done a skin tone for people of Storm's ethnic descent very much at all so I just kept working on it and I had a good hard look at how does his skintones as well, and ended up with this one for Storm. So yeah pretty happy with that as well..
Storm is African or Black African if you prefer. Her skin tone came out beautiful. But why does Cyclops look like he smells something bad? LOL. Well done.
Great job! *side note* You may wish to avoid using the term "Coloured". It's an archaic and somewhat offensive term, like Negro. Black or African-American (or Afro-American) are cool.
between you and nei, you guys are in the top 5 for my most favorite comic color artist on DA. Now if i could only get you to tackle some of my lines...........
