pencils by :iconspherco: - steve firchow
inks by :iconfullname: - ambra meneghin

This was originally a pencilled commission that Steve drew a few years ago. He never coloured it, and whether I was a little initimidated by that (got be as good as steve!! - yeah, like *that* was ever going to happen...) or not, this didn't come out quite like I envisioned in my mind. Maybe its because I wasn't sure if I truly wanted it to be a sunset scene or (yet another) moonlit night scene in my head... Maybe I'll go back and re-do it as the night scene one day...*shrugs*

Nevermind... off to the next pic I guess...

i have to say, that slight desaturation on this piece is better than the stronger colours on the other version...

both are exceptional, but that goes without saying :D

I think her skintone throws it off by matching the sunset tones exactly ^_^;;

nah... I'm on :iconartgerm:'s chat at the moment and the 'collective' pooh-pooh'd my original warmer skin tones... This is better

Really? Cause warmer tones with contrasting highlights to match the lighting would be perfect.

Moonlight would have definitely given the piece a different feel, but sunset is a time of transition. Like sunrise, a scene that takes place at these times hints that there is something more to come.
Had the scene been set at night, it would give the impression that something had just finished, not impending. I think it adds to the mystery... just what is she going to do in that graveyard?
I like it this way, but you are the inker and ultimately it is your decision. It would be interesting to ask the original pencils person or even the writer who wrote the scene, (if this scene was scripted), at what time they envisioned it to be... but now, of course, I'm rambling.
