So, there's this if people haven't noticed yet.

Personally I have my doubts that they'll end up hiring *anyone* at all, and if they do, that person will get a one issue run on a small insignificant title and things will then return to normal with the regular crowd.

You're pretty much going to have to be living in Burbank or have the ability to easily get to Burbank and find a place to stay. Also for artists at least they pretty much want you to be a previously published artist, preferably with an established repertoire and pro contacts/friends in the industry that can give their two cents about you. So they're not making this easy by any means and they certainly don't want some kid straight out of high school with stars in their eyes and water behind their ears.

(yeah I'm probably not going to be working for either of the majors anytime soon, and even less so now probably... :p )

I sincerely hope I'm proved wrong about all of this though.

my first work for the "big 2" (about 30 years ago) just happened to be for a comic called "new talent showcase"----it never saw the light of day (THANK GOD)---still and all-i think the big guys will do whatever it takes to keep sales steady-up to and including semi-bogus "contests" that,as you said,starry-eyed high school and college kids think they have a chance to win-as far as i know, the only 'contest'winner that went on to a substantial career is mark bagley---
