To all you Apple users (and I'm not one of them) - what are some good apps, preferrably with an art focus but anything that you find particularly useful or nifty, to download...?
My workplace is providing all of us with a free iPad (well we don't have to pay for it as long as we work there and have to give it back if we leave) tomorrow and suffice to say... I know sweet bugger-all about iPads and Apple products in general. I'm a dyed in the wool PC man and at this point will be probably lucky to turn the thing on tomorrow much less *do* anything intelligent with it... At least we get some training provided tomorrow on how to use it. They're going to have a 'caveman' group and then a group that have some sort of clue already and I think that I'll join the caveman group anyway even though I do actually have a computing degree... It's been 12 years since I used any sort of Mac/Apple product and then it was a desktop computer. I remember I hated it. (it had a partitioned HDD with Windows on the other side, I spent most of my time doing stuff with that side of the HDD...)
But, the iPad comes with an App allowance through work, so what are some good ones to download as I said? Free ones are great but otherwise so long as they're not too expensive it should be ok.
cheers
Sean

Instead here are some other helpful apps.
Good reader ( for PDF etc )
Chrome ( browser )
Instapaper ( lets you read saved content in offline mode )
Foxtel Guide ( lets you use your iPad to view whats on, whats coming soon, and even lets you set to record it etc .. ) great fucking app
Oz TV ( another program guide, but this time for normal tv channels )
BeeJive IM ( best instant messenger app bar none )
Keynote
Numbers
Pages ( all three are an total office suite, like Microsoft office, amazing apps .. cost a bit though, but I've found them worth it )
Wikipanion ( wikipedia app .. pretty cool )
Pocket Weather HD ( amazing weather app .. I love this app and use it hourly )
...
Games wise .. I'd easily and happily recommend the following ..
Fieldrunners 2
Zombiewood ( crazy fun zombie game, utterly absorbing )
He-Man ( scolling beat em-up )
Infinity blade 2 ( RPG warrior quest )
Dead Trigger ( zombie kill a thon FPS style )
Monopoly
GTA China Town Wars ( it's GTA duh
Machinarium ( incredible puzzle game )
.. there is more .. but this is enough to get you started
P.S Hope your buying a retina iPad 3 not the regular model .. huge picture quality difference*
anyways if you can swing it, he apps I suggested are hawt
Either way, definitely get a stylus. The last thing you want is to be stuck trying to finger paint. From what research I did on the iPad market (before I got the Note 10.1) the Wacom Bamboo pen was the best stylus by far. Seems like this was made specifically for the tablet-using artist market.
Best of luck with the new acquisition!!
I can connect to my wireless internet at home. Can access the internet on Google Chrome (but not safari) but that's it!! Can't get itunes, app store or any pre-installed app that requires a login or server connection to work.
I thought signing up to apple id might do the trick, but nope... it just will not connect...
