*UPDATE*
The problem is apparently that....
The guys from Winthrop Services who have the contract to provide ALL the IT services for all government schools in WA created a custom image for the iPads to fit the net-nanny/usage policies for the education dept, and to make them work on our useless SOE4 network....
In the process of this re-imaging they disabled the ability for the iPads to have the proxy turned off and not only disabled it but removed the visibility of the 'switch' in the control settings in the process, so that no one could turn it back on again!!!
It did not occur to them to actually test their changes themselves before rolling the iPads out to us....that would cost them money...
So, NO ONE, not just me, was able to use their iPads at home last night and Winthrop have been told to "fix it!" without extra charges, but they don't know how to fix it yet and it may take some time....
Ultimately it will probably mean collecting all the iPads back and re-imaging them all over again. Meanwhile we have what amounts to a fancy internet browser with a difficult to use and tiny interface. My laptop is a better option that the iPad at present...

The iPad works fine at work on the network there. The local techie said they'd had to make some 'adjustments' to get it working but he reckoned all should be ok at home as well.
I can connect to my wireless internet router at home OK. Can access the internet on Google Chrome app (but not Safari) but that's it!!
But can't get itunes, app store or any pre-installed app that requires a login or server connection to work.
I thought signing up to apple id might do the trick, but nope... it just will not connect...
*shrugs*
any ideas anyone...?
Oh, and if you're going to suggest anything technical, assume for arguments sake that I know NOTHING about Apple products that might be considered useful or that I have hardly any clue how to use an iPad yet... because you'd be right...

I had that happen to me today, a vender we use at work changed their website, and I typed and typed the user id, luckily I realized that the pop up blocker was blinking and...I cussed and hit allow.
and what do you mean plug it in? I don't any cable to plug it into anything except the battery charger - that's all they gave us.
Why are people so blind to the fact that the "i" line is such shyte?
There are machines that do the same things better for less money and there's no dealing with all the nonsense that comes with the "i" line.
