ow, ow ow owww... #2

Wed Jan 25, 2012, 2:14 AM
Last week I had a wisdom tooth extracted (lower right) because it broke  at chunk out of it over the christmas period.

Now my mouth is just hurting like you wouldn't know what. Dull constant ache in the jaw, spreading up into the upper teeth and a stabbing pain down into my right tonsil/neck. Popping panadol tablets like they're candy as I can't take Nurofen (ibuprofen) because I'm allergic to aspirin and it reacts much the same way with me, and the Panadol just doesn't have the same impact.

I haven't got a 'dry socket' for those who are wondering. It just hurts like heck...

Any suggestions on what else I could do about it??..?

cheers
Sean

You should try with ice, or with a piece of potato on the side where your mouth hurts. I remember I used it when I had big toothaches... they help (especially the potato)!

It's coming good now. Yesterday was the first full day without any sort of pills to get me through it :) Thanx :)

put some ice bag on it or something to make it numb and ease up some pain...

Could you talk to your doctor about something stronger? I had all four of my wisdom teeth out at once, and they gave me Percocet for it... I wasn't able to do anything worthwhile for a few days, but I didn't feel much of anything.

neat vodka ;) that'll burn the pain away.

Which reminds me. Must pull a chunk out of my bank account for you (still waiting to be paid).

You might have an infection rather than just a tooth-less ache. The spreading of pain like that is a concern.

it's not too bad today... haven't had to take the panadol so far and just have a dull ache. Basically if I don't talk and keep mouth movements to a minimum it's ok. Most pain seems to come from my cheek rubbing the wound

Still, you might want to get it checked out if the pain/swelling/inflammation carries on. Be well (soon). ;)

Not trying to sound crude, but a six pack of beer and sex. Temporary relief, mind you, but still works. I've experienced the pain you have been thru!
